Homemade Chicken Nuggets
Juicy chicken pieces in a crispy coating. Made with real chicken breast — far better than anything from a drive-through.
Prep: 15 minutes. Cook: 10 minutes. Difficulty: Easy. Serves 4.
Ingredients
- 500g chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup plain flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1.5 cups breadcrumbs or panko
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper
- Oil for shallow frying or baking
Instructions
- Cut chicken into bite-sized nugget shapes.
- Season flour with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Set up three plates: seasoned flour, beaten egg, breadcrumbs.
- Coat each piece: flour, egg, breadcrumbs.
- To fry: heat 1cm oil. Fry for 3 minutes each side until golden.
- To bake: place on a lined tray, spray with oil, bake at 200°C for 15 minutes, turning once.
- Drain on paper towels if fried.
Tips for Helpers
- Cut pieces to a similar size so they cook evenly.
- Baking is easier for large batches.
- Freeze uncooked breaded nuggets on a tray, then bag them for later.
Ingredient Substitutions
- Use turkey breast for a leaner version.
- Crushed cornflakes make a crunchy alternative to breadcrumbs.
