Ingredients
- 1 can (400g) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 3 tablespoons tahini
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 clove garlic
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons cold water
- Salt to taste
- Paprika and extra olive oil for serving
Instructions
- Add chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, and salt to a food processor.
- Blend for 2–3 minutes until very smooth.
- Add cold water one tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
- Taste and adjust lemon and salt.
- Serve in a bowl, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with paprika.
Tips for Helpers
- Blend longer for smoother hummus — 3 minutes minimum.
- Cold water makes the hummus lighter and fluffier.
- Removing chickpea skins before blending gives the smoothest result (optional).
Ingredient Substitutions
- Use peanut butter if tahini is unavailable — different but still good.
- Add roasted red pepper or beetroot for flavour variations.
