Simple Pancakes
Fluffy pancakes perfect for weekend breakfasts. A family favourite that is easy to make.
Prep: 5 minutes. Cook: 15 minutes. Difficulty: Easy. Serves 4.
Ingredients
- 1½ cups flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1¼ cups milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- Pinch of salt
- Toppings: maple syrup, fruit, honey
Instructions
- Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- In another bowl, beat egg with milk and melted butter.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry. Mix until just combined (lumps are okay).
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Lightly butter.
- Pour ¼ cup batter per pancake. Cook until bubbles form on surface.
- Flip and cook 1–2 minutes more until golden.
- Serve warm with chosen toppings.
Tips for Helpers
- Don't overmix the batter — lumps are fine.
- Medium heat prevents burning.
- Pancake is ready to flip when bubbles appear and edges look set.

- Whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
- Oat milk or any milk works.
- Mashed banana can replace some sugar.
