Simple Pancakes

Fluffy pancakes perfect for weekend breakfasts. A family favourite that is easy to make.

Prep: 5 minutes. Cook: 15 minutes. Difficulty: Easy. Serves 4.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1¼ cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Pinch of salt
  • Toppings: maple syrup, fruit, honey

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  2. In another bowl, beat egg with milk and melted butter.
  3. Pour wet ingredients into dry. Mix until just combined (lumps are okay).
  4. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Lightly butter.
  5. Pour ¼ cup batter per pancake. Cook until bubbles form on surface.
  6. Flip and cook 1–2 minutes more until golden.
  7. Serve warm with chosen toppings.

Tips for Helpers

  • Don't overmix the batter — lumps are fine.
  • Medium heat prevents burning.
  • Pancake is ready to flip when bubbles appear and edges look set.

Ingredient Substitutions

  • Whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
  • Oat milk or any milk works.
  • Mashed banana can replace some sugar.
