Grilled Halloumi
Golden, squeaky halloumi cheese grilled until crispy on the outside. Quick, simple, and irresistibly good.
Prep: 2 minutes. Cook: 5 minutes. Difficulty: Easy. Serves 4.
Ingredients
- 250g halloumi cheese, sliced 1cm thick
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Lemon wedges for serving
- Fresh mint (optional)
- Honey or chilli flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Slice halloumi into 1cm thick pieces.
- Heat a non-stick pan or grill over medium-high heat.
- Brush halloumi with a little olive oil.
- Cook for 2 minutes each side until golden brown.
- Serve immediately with lemon wedges.
Tips for Helpers
- Eat immediately — halloumi goes rubbery as it cools.
- Do not add oil to the pan — just brush the cheese.
- High heat gives the best colour and texture.
Ingredient Substitutions
- Paneer can work as a substitute.
- Bake at 200°C for 10 minutes if you prefer.
